Buddy Jupiter set to replace Facebook soon.

Move over facebook you're old news. A new social networking website has improved on facebook in almost every way. It's not a surprise considering that half of the staff is from the original creative team for facebook. The ability to seperate close friends from just acquaintances is a new feature that is definitely a step in the right direction for sites like these. Some interesting privacy features that have been absent in facebook will be presented in full upon launch of buddy jupiter. Your close friends will see a completely different page than people you simply add on as a whim.

Much like the move from ICQ to MSN, the move from facebook to buddy jupiter will happen over time but there is no doubt facebook will soon become obsolete. The launch of buddy jupiter is expected some time in early 2009.

The DeVil went down to Toronto

Before I get to the second comic about one of the most evil people in the world today. I better give a quick review about movies I've seen recently.

Superman Returns - (4/6) - Better Than Usual

It was a pretty solid flick. If you haven't seen it yet, go do so now. It's up to par with Superman I and Superman II. Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor was pretty bad ass. I wasn't bored at all for two and a half hours. Brian Singer revived the franchise, which is pretty impressive, considering Superman III and Superman IV. By the way, I like Kate Bosworth as a blonde more.

The Devil Wears Prada - (4/6) - Better Than Usual

Sure most of you would consider this a chick flick. That's fine. It was a really good movie though, the dialogue was fresh, the acting was great, and Anne Hathaway was so hot, her image is permanently burned into my retina.

Pirates of the Carribean 2: Dead Man's Chest - (3/6) - Just satisfying

I was feeling terrible in the last 15 minutes of the film, so maybe I can't judge this fairly. It had a lot of the major components of a good movie, action, some funny moments, and a pretty cast (Keira Knightley is ridiculous. Only 21 too.)

It just wasn't as good as the first one. Do I think that the third one may be much better and this will be the black sheep of the trilogy? I do. I also don't think there's anything particularly wrong with the film and that there's no reason not to watch it.

So that's it for reviews. Clerks II and Miami Vice are next on the docket. Now it's time for another comic about one of the most twisted people I know and how I survived after meeting her (Sorry, Dino Riders, but this just may be the greatest battle in the universe).

Alright, so the battle hasn't truly begun yet but I'm getting there. It seems for now that this is a semimonthly comic, so visit again in a couple weeks.

Brand New

So I said in my other blog, that I would put a comic strip that doesn't involve Mark and Danielle. I'm doing just that. I'm not sure if everyone who reads this will know who the main character is based on. Well, as I've said in another post or two, it's based on someone that I've nicknamed little sis/DeVil. I don't like using nicknames in my comic strips though, so I've chosen to use the names Victoria and Mitch (her boyfriend). Now, this may be a complete bust but I just thought of the idea and I'm going through with it. It's completely over the top and I'm not even sure what I'm going for here. We'll see what happens. Hell, the comic series, Dino Riders only had a few issues.

See what I mean by over the top? The "real Victoria" is actually the complete opposite of what's depicted here. I think she's made up of pixie sticks or something. That's why I thought it would be kind of crazy to present her like this. Obviously, my initial idea of this being a single comic strip has changed. I'm thinking that it could be a short series though.

Books, Bands & Babes

Since I didn't seem to update this blog enough in past months. I've really been trying to lately. So here's a mixed post, it's still filled with a bunch of reviews and recommendations. There's a special section where I talk about actresses and import models that I believe deserve a bit more recognition, if you're not into that, just stop later on in this post.

So let's start off with books. I've been reading off and on again in the last few months, so I've polished off a few. Consider the following list all recommended reading.

a) The Chrysalids by John Wyndham

What it's about - The main character, David, lives in a place where if you do not fit in with the genetic norm, you're outcasted and punished. David looks normal on the outside but he seems to be able to speak to other select people with his mind. If anyone were to find out about David and the people he spoke to mentally, they would certainly be screwed.

Why you should read it - The idea's cool, it's short at 200 pages and contains so many events, that it's quite action packed.

b) Life of Pi by Yann Martel

What it's about - The main character, Pi Partel, gets tossed out to sea and must survive on a lifeboat with a Tiger.

Why you should read it - It starts off a little slow but once he gets lost at sea, the real story begins. You almost start believing that all of this actually happened. He also writes with great insight, so you get treated to his well stated opinions on multiple subjects. If all that isn't enough to convince you, I actually saw someone in Waterloo wearing a white t-shirt with the cover of this book printed on it.

c) Kill The Messenger by Tami Hoag

What it's about - The main character is a bike messenger named Jace Damon. He gets a package from some sleazy lawyer. Well, it seems later the lawyer was killed by someone looking for the package. Unfortunately for Jace, the cops think he did it. Now, he's on the run with a package that could get him killed and from the police who believe he's a murderer.

Why you should read it - After reading some family friendly books, it was nice to read an author that wasn't shy about using some swear words. Lots of people say fuck, believe me it's true. Aside from that, the book is written in such a way that you find yourself rooting for the main character pretty early on in the book.

d) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
I read all the Chronicles of Narnia several months ago. It's hard to pick a favourite, I think you should read them all but if you have to choose one, this is my pick.

What it's about: Edmund and Lucy go with their dickhead of a cousin, Eustace, back to Narnia. They join King Caspian in an effort to find seven lords who were banished when King Caspian's throne was stolen.

Why you should read it: I believe this is one of the more adventurous books of the lot. I mean there's monopods, a magician, a sea serpent, the list just goes on and on. Definitely a fun read.

e) Angels & Demons by Dan Brown

What it's about - The first book Robert Langdon is featured in. In this one, he uses his knowledge to find the ancient lair of the Illimunati, who seem to have surfaced again and have planted a bomb inside Vatican City.

Why you should read it: It's better than the DaVinci Code. It just seems to have less filler and the twists in it are even better, if you can believe that. I didn't really have a top pick out of these books but if I was forced to make one I guess this would be it.

Now on to bands. I'm pretty much just going to talk about what I'm currently listening to. I realize not everyone likes what I do but I'll still say that these are my recommendations.

a) Fort Minor - I like Linkin Park so it's no surprise I like them. Mike Shinoda is front lining this project. They definitely have more songs with lots of beats and rapping than most of Linkin Park's songs. They do have some pretty heartfelt songs also. The lyrics are simple and enjoyable to listen to. You probably heard one of their songs if you're into the NBA. Their song Remember the Name is this year's NBA theme. Anyways, you can go to http://www.myspace.com/fortminor and listen to their most popular songs. The song Where'd You Go by them is one of my favourites.

b) Joshua Radin - I'm not sure if this guy is acting or what. Whenever he sings, you just feel his emotions. I guess the closest thing I could think of to compare this to is Death Cab for Cutie. If you're into emo, this is pretty much the definition of it. Anyways go to http://www.myspace.com/joshuaradin. I like his song The Fear You Won't Fall, I have no idea why it's not on his CD.

c) The Postal Service - Speaking of Death Cab for Cutie, their lead singer Ben Gibbard is also the lead singer for this band. It's difficult to describe but it's really like a deeper version of Death Cab for Cutie. I really don't know how to explain it any way else. You can go to http://www.myspace.com/thepostalservice but it doesn't have my favourite song by them, This Place is a Prison.

d) The Arcs. I don't think their cd is out yet but if you googled them you would find their site with many of their tracks (http://www.newmusiccanada.com/genres/artist.cfm?Band_Id=17619). Flash was the first one to tell me about them, so if you like their music, thank him. Sleek lyrics, decent guitar playing and good vocals make their music something worth listening to.

e) Angels & Airwaves - I guess Tom DeLonge of Blink 182 was being held back by his partners. His new cd has him doing by the sounds of it, all the singing. The songs have killed off most of that pop feeling that Blink 182's songs were notorious for. If you liked Blink 182 at one point in your life but seemed to have matured out of it. Give them a chance because Tom DeLonge's music has matured as well. You can go to http://www.myspace.com/angelsandairwaves and listen to some of their tracks.

Now this is where you can stop reading Omega (It's okay to think other girls are pretty dude). Now these are girls that have been forgotten or who's careers are in question. I'm here to say that they deserve to be put back in the public eye if only to show off their beauty.

7. Denise Richards. This girl is on the brink, she's had issues with Charlie Sheen and hasn't put out a decent film since around 1999. However, let's not forget that she made out with Neve Campbell in Wild Things, that should keep her famous forever. Here's a picture of her with one of her co-stars from The World Is Not Enough.

6. Dannell Harris. She's pretty much known from the WB series One Tree Hill. This girl is only 24 but seems to be only able to hold onto short time roles on popular TV series. She's going to have to make a move soon. Pretty much the prettiest red head that was on TV this season.

5. Shannon Elizabeth. Her brief stint in the 70's show may have saved her from disappearing altogether but the absence of her in films has really taken it's toll. Still if there was any sexier moment than Neve Campbell and Denise Richards making out in blockbuster movie history, Shannon playing with herself in American Pie would have to be it.

4. Kaley Cuoco. She pretty much made a name for herself in 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter. That show was cancelled and since then she has moved to the WB Series Charmed. I don't know how much longer that show will last but a blonde couldn't hurt that heavily dark haired cast.

3. Rachel Stevens. I'm guessing you haven't heard that name in a while. It seems like she's the only one that was able to have a solo career after S Club 7 disbanded (I guess their song "Don't Stop" wasn't something they wanted to listen to either). With girls like Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson, and Christina Millan, I really don't know how she can compete. Still she's damn sexy and I wouldn't mind seeing her in a new TV show or movie.

2. Sung Hi Lee. I'm sure if you googled her name, you would probably just get her playmate photos but she's been breaking into the TV and movie industry ever so slowly. I remember catching her in the TV show, Mortal Kombat: Conquest. She's made several cameos since then. I'm hoping for her to start appearing in more films and shows.

1. Eliza Dushku. You should remember her as the bad ass slayer from the TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was seriously bitchin' back then. She did solid movies like City By The Sea and Bring It On. Just like the title of the film she did in 2003, she really did take a Wrong Turn. After that she gained some stability with the show Tru Calling but because of the odd times a lot of the episodes were played, it never really gained enough of an audience, so it died during the second season. It looks like she may be making a small comeback with a couple films. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well, it started a few days ago when I thought about a car show I went to a few years back. I don't have too much interest in cars but I do enjoy import models. So if you're not on the scene, here are just a few reasons you should be. It should be said that there are hundreds of reasons you should be.

3. Francine Dee. She's considered one of the queens of the import scene. Sure she obviously has implants but her looks have probably gotten quite a few guys to buy a car part or two, even when they don't own a vehicle.

2. Masiumi Max. This girl is seriously bad ass. I first found out about her through the import model scene but later I found out this chick is crazy. She was on Fear Factor, she's a fire eater and she seriously likes tattoos and weapons.

1. Tila Tequila/Nguyen. This girl is only four-foot-eleven but she owns myspace. Well, not exactly but she does have the most popular page on it. This is something she said in an interview with Stuff magazine, "Sex...is the one place where you can be uninhibited and go wherever your fantasies take you." Now that's hot. She's evidently a singer, I don't like her music at all but I could listen to her sing "I don't want any love, I just want to get screwed" anytime.

Like I said this could go on for a very long time. I think I've done my duty by telling you about these ten smokin' girls.

Bringing It Back Old School

I'm not a big video game guy. I'm not even into the new XBOX 360. My favourite new games are just ones from old franchises. When I'm restless and in the mood for some gaming, I don't even go play my Gamecube. It's SNES games all the way. So here's a short list of games I like to chill back with. It should be noted that this isn't a list of the best SNES games but ones I like to play when I'm completely fried. I'll also include what I believe are good choices of music to listen to when playing such games.

1. Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems
It's a simple beat 'em up game. You play as Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man and/or Wolverine throughout the game. There's just something so relieving about seeing Hulk smash a guy into the ground, or Wolverine going berserk and ripping through a bunch of bad guys.

I have no really good recommendation for music for this game but I will say that some of Linkin Park's angrier songs go well with Hulk or Wolverine tearing up the place.

2. E.V.O: The Search for Eden
You might think a game about evolution sounds a bit too educational but it really is a lot of fun. There are basically all these different chapters where you are a certain animal. For example, in the first chapter you're a fish. The cool thing is as you kill other animals and eat them you get E.V.O. points which allow you to transform your body. So you can change from nothing special into awesome over a short period of time. Let me give you an example...
Before...
After...
The only downside is that the game play can get a bit repetitive but if you focus on seeing your weakling of a character turn into a beast, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did and do.

My choice in music for this is something brand new that you're not use listening to, it will help deal with any annoyances you may have with the game play. Angels & Airwaves is what I'm listening to for this game at the moment.

3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
If I recall correctly the first time playing this game, I rented it and played it with my sister. It was quite a bit of fun. I highly recommend playing this game with someone else but it's still pretty good by yourself. Do I have to explain why nunchucking Rocksteady while your friend puts a Sai in Bebop's face is fun?
Good times...
This is another title that really doesn't make me think of any specific artist to listen to. Yngwie Malmsteen may just do the trick though. I'll have to try that out myself one of these days.

4. Bust-A-Move
This is really meant for two people. The only reason you would play singer player is to get better at the game. You would think that linking coloured bubbles would be too simple to be fun but that's what makes this game beautiful. It's easy to play but difficult to master. It should also be told that you're making two dinosaurs launch the coloured bubbles for you. So it's kind of cool to think that you have a couple dino slaves.

I find that Dream Theatre works well. Their fast paced songs containing few words really kick up the tempo of this game.

5. Super Bomberman 3 (Battle-Mode)
I picked this up during my somewhat painful trip to Hong Kong. This game almost made it worth it. I don't know how many hours Flash and I have spent playing this game or better yet, will end up spending. We're definitely counting by the days if not weeks. I'm not sure what it is about the game that makes it so good, the stereotypical and sometimes blatantly racist characters, the fact that you ride kangaroos, or all the well designed levels. It may just be that Flash and I are so evenly matched at the game, that a 3 match game often turns into an epic 10 game battle with multiple ties.

I've played this game to all kinds of music, and I really can't suggest a specific band. Mortal Kombat tracks are necessary to put in the mix though.

Think There's Nothing To Watch?

My friend Omega is in Ottawa for a job this term. He pretty much has nothing to do other than watch over 80 hours of dvd's that I lent him. The way he's going through them though, I doubt they'll last very long.

The NBA and NHL finals are coming to a close in a couple weeks and many shows have had their season finales already. So many people think there's really nothing worth watching on TV. Well, for a diehard fan of television like me, I have a different opinion. So here are my nightly picks from Monday to Friday. I should warn you I don't catch many of these shows because I'm watching sports or am busy with something else. So this schedule may not be completely correct in a couple weeks.

Monday

7 - A&E (31) - Dog the Bounty Hunter
This show is crazy. Sure there are some heartwarming moments, considering that Dog the Bounty Hunter has a posse which contains mostly family members. At the end of the day though, the real reason to watch this show is to see him track and beat down criminals.

8 - Global (3) - Deal or No Deal
It seems like the show changes times every week. Sure it seems to simple to be any good. All it is, is some guy choosing cases and finally deciding whether to take the money he's offered or keep going. Before you know it though, you're screaming at the TV, "Jim you should have taken the deal, you really fucked up this time, your wife is going to divorce you".

Alternative - Discovery (42) - MythBusters
Two guys basically try to scientifically prove or disprove urban legends. This is what it reads in the TV guide for this Monday, "Inflicting bodily harm with a playing card; heating a jawbreaker to see if it turns into killer candy.".

9 - Discovery (42) - Dirty Jobs
I've been preaching this show for a while now. This show just makes you appreciate life a bit more. If you haven't seen the sewage episode, I highly recommend it.

10 - Comedy Network (50) - Dave Chappelle Show
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Donnb6DzYXQ&search=chapelle%20show...'nuff said

10:30 - Comedy Network (50) - Punk'd
This show has really kicked it up a notch. Babies are being used, infidelity is simply a joke, vehicles are completely destroyed, this show obviously doesn't care a thing about money or people's feelings. Which makes it all the better for us to watch.

Tuesday

8 - NBC (10) - Last Comic Standing
It's the 2 hour premiere. If you haven't seen past seasons, it doesn't matter. It's a pretty funny show. If not for the stand up alone, just the way everyone interacts with each other and how they act off stage is worth watching.

9 - A & E (31) - Dog the Bounty Hunter

10 - BET (57) - Season of the Tiger - I haven't watched this myself yet. It sounds awesome though. I think it would be best if you just went to the site for now. http://www.bet.com/BETShows/seasonofthetiger.htm?wbc_purpose=Basic&WBCMODE=PresentationUnpublished&Referrer=%7B15316AC5-5969-48C8-BADD-0ED9CC2482BB%7D

Alternative - Comedy Network (50) - Distraction
It's a pretty typical game show in terms of the questions. What's unique is what is happening to the contestants when they want to answer a question. They may have to take a pie to the face, break a bottle over their head, put as many elastic bands on their face as possible, go through electrical shocks, and countless other painfully degrading things.

Wednesday

7 - A & E (31) - Dog the Bounty Hunter

8 - CTV (8) - Gameshow Marathon
It's on a special night for it's premiere. It's based on a show in the UK. It will regularly air on Thursdays at 8. A group of second tier if not third tier celebrities will compete in numerous game shows such as The Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal, and Family Feud. Seriously, I think it will just be worth watching because of Lance Bass.

9 - NBC (10) - Italian Job (Movie)
It's good, it's good enough that there's going to be a sequel. It's pretty much about revenge, a couple gold heists, and Mini-Coopers. Watch it if you haven't done so already.

10 - A & E (31) - Criss Angel Mindfreak
In the season premiere Criss tries to float from one building to another.

Thursday

8 - NBC (10) - The Office
Three episodes are playing back to back, I haven't given this show enough of my time. I've only seen bits and pieces but with Steve Carell being the main star of it, it should be pretty funny. Give it a chance, I'm pretty sure I will.

Alternative - ABC (18) - 2006 Scripps national Spelling Bee
This actually happened at one of these...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=06JUfkiMOVc&search=spelling%20faint
So it's definitely worth watching.

8:30 - Bravo! (40) - Bourne Identity (Movie)
Many people were skeptical about this movie when they found out Matt Damon was going to be the action star in it. Well I'm here to say, that their worries were misplaced. He does a great job in this film. It's pretty much about an assasin that has an amnesia and who is also a fugitive. There are tons of cool action sequences. Turn your VCR's on for this one.

9 - Discovery (42) - Deadliest Catch
I don't think you'll ever be able to say that Alaskan snow crab legs are too expensive after watching this. It's pretty much about a bunch of ship crews risking life and limb to catch as many crabs as they can. It's insane the lengths they are willing to go.

10 - Discovery (42) - Breaking Vegas
I have to watch this myself still. It's pretty much about people who tried to cheat casinos. Sometimes they succeeded and got away with tons of cash and sometimes they got screwed to the table.

Alternative - Spike (39) - Ultimate Fighter
I haven't watched much of it at all as of late. The first and second seasons were good though. If you like to see fighting this show may or may not disappoint you. Some weeks are a slugfest but other times it's a slow 3 round judge's decision, and those episodes aren't that entertaining to me at all. Still if you can appreciate grappling, you'll find a way to appreciate the show.

Friday

8 - Comedy Network (50) - Alice, I think
This is the season premiere. It's pretty much about Alice and her oddball family. Sure, the idea has been played out but I'm sure that it's going to be asinine and original. The writers are good and the Comedy Network hasn't let me down yet. Keep your eye on this one.

9:30 - MTV (59) - Laguna Beach : The Real Orange County
Three episodes play back to back. There's even an after show (I don't have to justify what I watch to you or anybody!). This show is beyond any words I have but I'll try. It's basically a reality TV show involving a group of teens (early college or just finishing high school) living luxurious lives in California. So without considering the obvious eye candy the show has to offer, it just seems too crazy to be true but it is. Let me just talk about what's been going on recently in the show (This is what I would sound like if I were a 16 year old girl watching the show). "Oh My Gosh! Can you believe that Alex M. approached Jessica like that. Totally ridiculous. I thought she was gonna break nails on her face. She's the one that hooked up with Jason behind Jessica's back. What nerve. At least she's not as bad as Stephen. People that work at Burger King flip less than him. MTV says he's involved in a triangle, fuck that, Stephen can't get Kristin so he goes to Lauren. At least he's going for girls though. What is up with Talan? Are you in love with Taylor or are you just in love with saying your in love with Taylor? I don't get it dude. At least you seem pretty happy even though you're single, unlike Jessica. Your ex, Jason is a handsome dude but he's kind of a dick. Realize that and move on. You're one of the prettiest and sweetest girls I've ever seen in my life. You can get almost any guy you want. Stop moaning and get back out there."...Sometimes I even scare myself.

So these are my suggestions on what to watch, at least for this week. I'm sure I'll find more shows in the TV guide later that I've seen and can recommend, but I think this is a pretty decent list for now.

A Truly Shocking Rating System

Before I start reviewing upcoming summer blockbusters. Every decent review blog needs some kind of rating system (This system will be mainly used for movies but it could be applied to shows too). So here's mine, pay attention to the pictures and the number of fingers being extended. Since 10 is a little generic, I'm going to use 6.
Painful to take...
0 - This movie is bad. It's so bad, you wouldn't bother going to it, if Carmen Electra was your date and she was promising sex afterwards. I'm serious, this is bad stuff. We're talking 'Son of the Mask' bad
Probably not worth the trouble...
1 - You either have to be totally drunk, totally high, or in love with someone from the cast to even give this movie a chance. A step up from 'Mortal Kombat: Annihilation', but not by much
Have to be in the mood...
2 - Overall the movie isn't good, but there are some good moments in it. By good moments, I mean celebrity nudity. Seriously though, I'm talking about the kinds of movies that are only good for a few minutes and then are surrounded by filler. Infamous with some sports films.
Just satisfying...
3 - This is an average movie. It's not seriously lacking in any area but it's definitely missing anything special. Tailor made for a rental, or I guess a purchase (First Markham destroyed Roger's Video with ease).
Better than usual...
4 - This is a solid flick. It's better than most out there. There aren't any obvious flaws but it just doesn't have that 'je ne sais quoi'. Definitely worth going to the theatre for though.
More than enough...
5 - Hold the standing ovations but damn the movie is good. It brings up a flurry of emotions, some of which you thought you killed when you decided to become a real man.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride...
6 - This is usually reserved for at least Oscar nominations. These are must sees in my opinion. The people that make movies like these are geniuses and deserve praise.

Prime Time, Part Three

So here are some shows that aren't really on any schedule for me. If I'm lucky I can watch some of them on the channel WB when I'm at home. The shows I'll talk about today are 'One Tree Hill', 'Smallville', 'South Park', 'Bleach', and 'Naruto'. The last two are animes. I'll deal with them last.

'One Tree Hill' is another great show on 'The WB'. Now that station knows what they're doing. I was a little apprehensive at first because the same people that did Dawson's Creek were working on the show. Now, I have nothing against Dawson's Creek, it was pretty decent and it had it's moments. I just don't need a repeat. Thankfully, in the very first episode they poked fun at it and you knew they were going to try to make it as different as possible themselves. That was refreshing. This show has so much character development, something that all good ones typically share. The music on the show is also pretty awesome, I find myself needing to find out constantly what bands were in it. I was worried that the show would suffer greatly when two of the actors, Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, that play two major characters got divorced but that hasn't seemed to happen.

This show has focused on it's core cast, only adding a new cast member on rare occasion but even then, those characters end up turning into main ones. So pick up all the old seasons (there has only been 2 so far) and catch your ass up on this great series.

'Smallville' is good. It's gone on a little longer than I thought it would, but it's maintained it's quality. Sometimes there are episodes that aren't exactly well done but overall, the show is going in the right direction. Erica Durance (check out the May issue of FHM) has been in it for about a season now and plays Lois Lane, she's really pretty but 'Smallville' has no shortage of pretty girls, Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk balance out that category nicely.

There's a reason to watch every season but you pretty much can start almost anywhere. That is if you know a little bit about Superman. This show has been rejuvenated and is preparing for one hell of an ending within a season or two. Definitely worth checking out.

'South Park' is in it's tenth season. I'm sure the creators of the show are just as amazed as you are. It's ridonkulous, I just can't believe what they get away with in that show sometimes. They cross all kinds of lines, and you just have to love them for it. It's such a guilty pleasure. Honestly, some episodes are just so sick, that you have to wonder how it got on the air. Not for the faint of heart but it hasn't lasted ten years for nothing. The movie was pretty cool too...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JrMfj8XfIQ&search=%20bitch%20song

Now, we're down to the animes. These are pretty much the only two I watch. There are hundreds out there. I wish they brought back Tenjo Tenge (Flash, you remember that show? Here's a reminder) .

'Naruto' has been around longer than 'Bleach', so let's start with it. Is it a much watch? That's arguable. It's based on a manga, so there are arcs. Some arcs are worth watching, other's aren't. This show is being played on YTV now. Don't bother with it, the voice acting is piss poor and they probably editted out the cooler scenes. Plus, it will take them years to get to where they are in Japan right now. It should be noted that the show is taking some kind of break from the manga, so a bunch of filler was used to keep the show going on a regular basis. This will end soon, thankfully. So pick up some old arcs (Pacific Mall is your friend) and start watching again in a couple months. It will be a fresh start, and you'll be able to keep up.

Now on to 'Bleach'. This show is great. Sword fights, a pretty cool idea about killing lost souls, and some seriously well drawn girls, need I say more?

Well, how about the huge amount of emotional development in the show or that there are a ton of cool blood filled scenes. This show is well written, even more so than 'Naruto' in my opinion. Even though it's currently taking a break using filler material too, the filler is damn good. This show has far fewer weak episodes. So go to bleachportal.net, sign up for a free account and download around 80 episodes to catch up. It'll only take you around 27 hours straight to finish, a small investment if you ask me.

Prime Time, Part Two

Wednesday and Thursday are the next two days of television I'll talk about.

Wednesday used to be a pretty crappy night for television. It's been like that for a long time. Some channels are now just starting to notice this and have realized that there's little competition on this night. My new professional goal, become a television executive. Anyways, the two shows that I watch on Wednesday nights are 'Everwood' and 'Lost'.

'Everwood' used to be on Monday nights. I'm thankful it moved. The show operates quite uniquely. There are quite a few main characters that are intertwined in some way. So something almost always seems to be going on in the show. The show focuses mainly on the relationships between all the characters but every now and then we're forced to remember that one of the main characters is a world renowned doctor. That's when the episodes go from good to great. The times when the doctor's son, who is a likeable emo character shows us that he's a piano prodigy are also pretty cool.

Wednesday nights seem to be all about shows that center around many main characters as opposed to one or two. 'Lost' is another perfect example. If you're not watching this, it really is too late. You can't just jump into a show like this (pretty much it's only flaw). It's kind of done the same way as a comic book, sure, there are some stand alone episodes but you really have to start from the beginning to really appreciate it. Virtually every actor in that show has been in some kind of production before, hell, I think the dog's been in 'Smallville' or 'Air Bud'. This show has a sickening budget but that makes sense because it also has a sickening amount of viewers. I would suggest picking up season one and clearing out a couple days if you haven't so already. This show has so many unanswered questions, that I can't imagine it not going another season but it's so fast paced, I can't imagine it going much longer than that. Still, it's one of the best ideas in television in a long time (No, it's not just like a darker version of Gilligan's Island) .

Thursdays are all about Fox. My show choices on Thursday are 'The Loop' and 'The OC'.

'The Loop' is a new comedy sitcom, there have only been a few episodes but it's pretty funny. It's just so ridiculous you have to watch it. There are also parts in it that are just so well conceived, you have to give the show some kudos. In one of the early episodes, the main character gets into an egg eating contest at a bar. This raises his cholesterol for a physical that he has to take for a job. He fails it completely but he gets sympathy and the doctor tells him that he has to have 10,000 steps on a pedometer before he can pass him. Anyways, he goes to the bar again and this time he wins at another crazy contest, which wins him a prize trip, before you know it, he wakes up in some exotic location and has to rush back home on a plane for his job. On the plane, he realizes his pedometer has a low number of steps, and he's not allowed to walk back and forth on the airplane aisle, so he goes back to his seat, and starts shaking his pedometer back and forth. It's pretty noisy, so he covers this action with a jacket. He's also pretty tired, so he closes his eyes. Guess, what the other passengers think he's doing. Genius! This show also has two very pretty girls in it, just in case you were wondering...

Now, for the show that used to be a must watch, wasn't for a while and now is back to a show worthy to obsess over, 'The OC'. I watched the very first episode on 'Fox', back when the main character still smoked and was one bad ass dude. He's evolved into someone that seemingly just has a hero complex. The show seemed to have a character for almost everyone's taste. It was at it's prime when Samaire Armstrong was there.

After she left, season two got a little wonky, and missing an episode every now and then was no longer a big deal. The writers threw everything at the show, new cast members, crazy situations, pretty much anything you could think of. Needless to say the show degenerated to a point, where only certain episodes were any good. Some of them failed experiments. The show is returning to form though, answering questions from season one and the start of season two. Samaire Armstrong is returning to the cast, I can only wish that it was permanently but it's probably only for a few episodes. So I think that you have to pick up season one, but after that, you really have to be a fan to still watch it. It should be said though that even if you're not a huge fan of the show, you should listen to the music. At least the show has kept that up to par.

Prime Time

So I've decided to change this blog a little. I'm still going to put some pretty random thoughts on here whenever I feel the need but I also want to start putting up some reviews and recommendations. I did so in my other blog but they don't seem to fit in as well there. I thought I would start out with television. I'm going to talk about tv shows that I'm currently watching or have decided to stop watching this season. Since there are so many, I thought I would go with what I watch on Monday and Tuesday first.

If you haven't been keeping up, Monday is quite possibly the most intense night of TV out there right now. Fox has really done some good work, putting 'Prison Break' and '24' back to back was genius. Sure, I need Gatorade now for the event (yes, it is an event) but it's so worth it. Both shows use a similar formula, by letting the main character have to think his way out of possible catastrophies with the help of their supporting cast. The main characters on both shows also seem to have huge complexes of some kind. So it's really interesting to see how they'll get out of their jams and what personal effects they'll have as consequences.

It should be noted that '24' is in it's fifth and final season. All the past seasons have been good, I don't want to give away anything, I hate spoilers but if you were to pick up a season right now, I would go with 2 or 3 first. They really go together though. Season one is probably the weakest of the series, not only because of a lower budget but because it seems to be the most poorly written of the bunch.

'Prison Break' is a beast but I don't see how they're going to keep things going for any substancial length of time. Also, Dominic Purcell has never done a tv show that has lasted more than a season, no matter how good it's been, 'North Shore' and 'John Doe' are both great examples. So enjoy it while it lasts.

Tuesday night is when I need to get the VCR out. There are just too many shows I watch on this weekday (Yes, I'm a total loser). Let's go through the list, 'Scrubs', 'Teachers', 'House', 'The Amazing Race' and 'Gilmore Girls'. Now the only two shows on that list that I watch with great dedication are 'Scrubs' and 'Gilmore Girls'. So let's get the B list shows out of the way first.

'Teachers' is a new show on NBC. It's not bad, the main character actually seems pretty witty and plays the 'good guy' really well. The supporting cast also isn't bad at all. The problem is that NBC made the mistake of putting it after 'Scrubs'. This makes the show seem a lot less funny than it actually is. It's not a bad show, it's just at a bad time.

'The Amazing Race' has it's moments but the show has the fatal flaw of not being able to keep certain types of teams in the game. So once certain teams leave, the show starts becoming a lot less interesting. Like when the Double D team left this season, that killed the show a bit for me.

To tell you the truth though, Gilmore Girls has the same time slot, so that's what I watch instead. Anyways, each season of 'The Amazing Race' is unique, so catch the next one when all the teams are there. You'll probably end up liking a couple of them.

'House' is a pretty cool show. I wish that it wasn't on at the same time as 'Scrubs'. I only have a few problems with it. 'Mad TV' actually made a great parody of the show (I rarely watch 'Mad TV' but from what I've seen it's pretty funny), saying that the patient is dying from an unknown cause, the Doctor tries to save them for most of the hour, but they only seem to get worse, and in the last ten to fifteen minutes of the show, he discovers the cause of the illness and cures the patient. It sounds really repetitive, and in a way it is but it follows the same ideology as 'Matlock'. We all know he wins, but it's not about the fact that he wins, it's about how he wins. That's where the magic is.

So now it's down to my two heavy hitters. Ladies first. I use to cover up the fact that I liked this show, changing the channel whenever my roommate walked in, and lying about what I was doing between the hours of ten and eleven on Tuesday nights. That has changed now though, Flash's girlfriend has learned my secret, I watch 'Gilmore Girls'. I've watched it for many years now. I think I started watching it when I caught it after 'Smallville' by accident, for all of you people that aren't TV nerds, before 'Smallville' was on City TV, the first episodes aired on Global. The current home of 'Gilmore Girls' in Canada. Now, this show didn't really have any hot chicks when it first started out. Well, Teal Redmann was in it. She's a serious fox.
The main character Rory (Alexis Bledel) has also turned into a babe in recent years but that's not why I watch the show. The writing is good. It's really good actually. The writers keep the show interesting without letting it burn out. There is just so much wit and banter in the show, and if you know me at all, I love anything of the sort.

Finally, we reach one of my all time favourite shows. This thing is a monster. I love it so much. When episodes didn't start at a regular time this year, I was frightened. Did Zach Braff the actor who plays the main character of the show, have so much success with 'Garden State' (Great movie, but we'll get to that another day) that he thought he didn't need to do the show 'Scrubs' anymore? Perish the thought. Anyways, I'm glad that 'Scrubs' is back. It's arguably the funniest TV sitcom there is right now. Sure, I have a small crush on Sarah Chalke. Yes, Mandy Moore did just do a recent guest appearance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAfbohqwwKg&search=scrubs). It is also difficult not to admire a man who made out with Natalie Portman.

These aren't the reasons why I watch the show though, they're just added bonuses. This show is just so innovative. It's so damn fresh. They use a lot of different directors, there are just so many cool cameos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucLcN2ftiNo&search=scrubs), the jokes are so well written and integrated into the show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbLkQdb85AE&search=scrubs) and the show actually feels like it's moving forward. Something that comedies often have trouble doing. It's simply an amazing show and I hope it lasts a few more years.

After completing this post, I realize it's huge. I guess that's fine, since I haven't updated this blog in so long. I also realized I watch way too much television.
